The Swedish guy will replace Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi, who remains on the team as a backup player, with NiP stating that they "hope to see him again in the active roster in the future."
This step occurs after a series of mixed results from NiP, which resulted in the fact that the team could not qualify for Major ELEAGUE.
Pyth joined NiP in December 2015 after returning to Sweden from the United States, where he spent six months representing Luminosity and Winterfox. During his time in the team, notable achievements include victories in the DreamHack Masters Malmö and IEM Oakland tournaments, and also took third place in the final of the third season of the ESL Pro League.
"Over the past few months, our results have been below our expectations, and we have not been able to find good solutions," said coach NiP Björn 'THREAT' Pers on the team website.
"We tried to exchange roles, but we can not find a good balance with the current composition. The main thing that we lack is a good AWPer, and therefore we are pleased to announce the arrival of William "Draken" Sundin.
"We watched him for a long time, and together with him we believe that all players can play the part in which they are comfortable.
"Throughout 2016, we managed to win three titles, and Jacob was an important part of these victories, winning us many rounds thanks to his explosive style of play.
"However, we can not ignore the fact that his style of play does not correspond to the role of AWP, but rather the roles that currently occupy other players in the team."
Draken was in the competitive scene in early 2016 with Cringe Gods, with them he was present at the MLG Columbus.
Shortly after this event, the players were recruited by Epsillon, and the team continued to conquer great heights, finishing 5-8 at ESWC and WESG, and winning the WCA Final after defeating VG.CyberZen in the decisive event.
"Getting into NiP is a dream for me," Sundin added. "A year ago I competed on the FaceIT platform, where I qualified for a minor in Bucharest.
"Since then, I have been working hard to improve and believe that I can have an influence in the game in NiP.
"Despite the fact that recently the team played poorly, they still remain one of the best teams in the world, and I'm glad that I was given this opportunity.
"I'm looking forward to the beginning, what would prove to be in the team!"
Draken's first off-line match with NiP will play on the StarLadder i-League StarSeries from 4 to 9 April, to which they were invited.
Thus, NiP now has:
Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg
Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund
Richard "Xizt" Landström
Adam "friberg" Friberg
William "draken" Sundin
Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi (backup)
NiP sign draken
