Sweden's DreamHack, the company behind one of the most famous series of LAN-championships in the history of CS: GO and eSports in general, seriously considering the possibility of taking over experience ESL in the sample for doping.
The last major-tournament, ESL One Cologne in 2015, not only became a major championship in the history of CS: GO, but also the first event in which the participants had to pass a drug test. DreamHack soon may follow suit.
"We talked about it for quite a while and this issue was last updated on the initiative of ESL. It is too early to declare what costs to expect. Swedish organizers presented CS-community many unforgettable highlights. Since the first major-tournament, conducted in 2013, the last major of the year is traditionally held in Jönköping, Sweden. However, this tradition may have come to an end.
Recently DreamHack have announced a new venue-winter tournament major. Instead of the traditional Jönköping, this year players will meet in the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca. Representatives DreamHack justified this decision by the presence of an excellent base for a major championship at the local organizers, who are already not the first time working together with the DH.
Sweden is often regarded as one of the leading European countries in relation to e-sports, especially with regards to discipline Counter-Strike. Partly because of this news on the transfer of major-tournament in Romania was not only a surprise but a shocking disappointment to many fans.
Despite this, the organizers do not exclude the possibility that the DreamHack Winter 2015 can also be a venue for major-tournament, thus adding a fourth championship this year. The only obstacle to this may serve as a proximity's Event: Romanian DreamHack stop is planned for October, while the DH Winter will be held in November.
